As part of the Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) under the Greening the Indian Financial System (GIFS) Initiative, the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) conducted an awareness training on Climate Change, Sustainability, and Green Finance on July 18, 2026, at Hotel Friends Regency in Ludhiana. The session focused on MSMEs in the city’s knitwear cluster.

The training brought together 49 MSME owners and entrepreneurs from the knitwear, hosiery, apparel, and fabric sectors. The inaugural session featured Mr. Narinder Miglani, General Secretary, Knitwear Club; Mr. Vinod Thaper, Chairman, Knitwear Club; Mr. Darshan Dawar, President, Knitwear Club; Mr. S.S. Rekhi, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Ludhiana; and Mr. Amit Pande, Chief Operating Officer, FMC. Participants were also introduced to the GIFS Initiative and its efforts to support MSMEs in improving their environmental performance and accessing green finance.

The training covered emerging EU market-access requirements, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the Digital Product Passport (DPP), along with the business case for a low-carbon transition, local climate risks and adaptation measures, and green finance opportunities available to MSMEs.

The session helped participating MSMEs build a clearer understanding of emerging sustainability requirements and the financing opportunities available to support their green transition.
